Synchronization

XS Finance will synchronize data when used in conjunction with our add-on product, XS Finance Professional

After installing XS Finance Professional, an icon in the XP taskbar will appear and, for the very first time you will be required to select a language and provide details for the Desktop finance file.  XS Finance Professional has the capability to support multiple devices as well as its own desktop finance file which is not associated with any device and can be used to hold finance information for non-synchronization purposes.

Synchronization will automatically occur when the device is placed in its cradle or by selecting 'Synchronize' from the task bar menu. You may also use XS Finance Professional when the device isn't connected by double-clicking on the icon in the task bar or by selecting 'Open XS Finance' from the menu.

Synchronization is bi-directional, if you modify transactions on the device or on the PC then both will be synchronized when the device is placed in its cradle.

Connection of a new device
Connecting an unknown device will display this dialog. From here you may rename the device, as XS Finance Professional knows it.
Specify the synchronization source. This allows you to specify which financial data files this device is be linked to.
Specify whether backups are made. This is recommended but will add to the time required to synchronize as the file will be copied from the device. Backups are in the installation folder under the devices' serial number.
Specify whether the synchronize information is verbose rather than a simple report.
Specify whether this device is the default data file. The default data file will be the selected file in the Logon screen (see below).

Finally press Create to create the new device or Cancel to exit.

Synchronization
Synchronization will automatically occur when the device is placed in the cradle or by selecting 'Synchronize' from the task bar menu.
Synchronize is a process which requires no actions and this dialog will automatically disappear once the synchronize process is complete.

NOTE: The synchronization report is called SYNC.LOG and will be saved in the installation folder.

XS Finance Professional (Off-line & On-Line)
XS Finance Professional can be opened at any time by double-clicking on the icon in the task bar or by selecting 'Open XS Finance' from the menu. Doing so will open the window as shown here, from here you may select whether to use the finance data which is linked to the device or the finance data which will be solely used on the Desktop, XS Finance (Desktop).

If you modify transactions to the devices' finance file in an off-line mode, then these will be synchronized when the device is placed in its cradle.

IMPORTANT:
Scheduled transactions must only exist on one device, either the PC or the remote device. If this isn't the case then the transaction may be processed on both devices causing duplicate transactions.
When using XS Finance on the remote device in evaluation mode, i.e. you have yet to register the product, then XS Finance Professional will assign your device a temporary serial number. After purchase, this device will be known under another reference. The same will occur if you are using a temporary (time-expired) serial number.
If the same transaction is modified on both the desktop & the device then the desktop will take precedence.
All devices are identified by their registration number, so you must not use two devices with the same registration number!
