Managing
your categories
|

|
Categories
enable XS Finance to classify transactions for the purpose of reporting or to
simply provide you with more information.
Whenever
you create a new user data file, XS Finance
automatically adds many categories,
however you may find that this isn’t enough and you need to add your own
or you need to modify the existing ones. To do this, simply select the
Categories icon from the slider, a categories window will
then be opened.

Creating
a new category
Creating a new category can
be accomplished by tapping the New button, a category details window will
then open.
-
Tap
the Name field and enter the
name of the category / class.
-
Tap the Description
field and enter the description of the category / class.
-
Tap the Type drop list
and select income or expense or alternatively if you wish this new
category to be a child of an existing category, for example a
category called Gas (being an item of Utilities category), then choose Child
and then select the Parent category, in our example this
would be Utilities.
-
Tap either Create to
store the new category or Cancel to return to the category list without
storing the category details.

Editing an existing category
To edit an existing category, simply select the desired category
and tap Edit, then follow the appropriate steps in
Creating a new category
and tap Update to store the amendments.
Deleting
a category
To delete an existing category, simply select the desired
category and tap Delete, select Yes from the confirmation prompt to delete
the category or No to leave the category intact.
Deleting
/ Resetting all categories
Initially XS Finance will create
a default set of categories for your new personal file. If you are importing
an account from a QIF file and wish to import the category list from that, you may first
want to delete the predefined set, allowing you to then use your familiar
set of categories. From the Categories
screen tap the Reset Categories button. This will firstly
delete all categories from the database. You will then be asked if you want
to recreate the XS Finance default categories. If you intend to use your own
set, answer no to this second question.
