Budgets

Budgets allow you to keep track of your income or expenditure for one or more categories.

From the budget screen you can view the current state of your budget for income or expenses. From the illustration on the left, you can see that there is a budget for Entertainment expenses and that for this month period we have spent 15.50 leaving a remaining amount of 184.50. 

To view your Income budget, simply tap the Income button and once again to return to your Expense budget.

 

Creating a new budget

Creating a new budget can be accomplished by first tapping the Income/Expense field depending on whether you wish to add a budget for an income or expense category.  Then tap the New button, a budget details window will then open.

  1. Tap the Category field and select the category. If it doesn't exist then tap New and follow the instructions for adding a new category. 

  2. Tap the Period field and select the budgets' duration.

  3. Tap the Start Date field and select the date which denotes the beginning of the budget.  This is required as your budget may start on a particular day of the month/week/quarter/year etc...  For example if you get paid on the 25th of the month then you may wish to start your budget on the same day.

  4. Tap the Amt field and enter the budget amount.

  5. Tap either Create to store the new budget or Cancel to return to the budget list without storing the budget details.

Editing an existing budget

To edit an existing budget, simply select the desired budget and tap Edit, then follow the appropriate steps in Creating a new budget and tap Update to store the amendments.

Deleting a budget

To delete an existing budget, simply select the desired budget and tap Delete, select Yes from the confirmation prompt to delete the budget or No to leave the budget intact.

 

Budgets in operation

Once you have setup a budget, they will then be shown in the transaction form.

As you add transactions the remaining budget will be updated so you will always know what your situation is.
